Après "Roger & Me", "The Big One" et "Bowling For Columbine", Michael Moore revient en force dès mercredi 7 juillet 2004 avec son documentaire ayant reçu la Palme d'Or du festival de Cannes 2004 : FAHRENHEIT 9/11

Ce documentaire s'attaque de plein fouet aux problèmes brûlants de l'Amérique. La caméra de Michael Moore filme avec scepticisme le Président George W. Bush et ses propres conseillers.
Prenant pour point de départ l'élection controversée de 2000, le réalisateur retrace l'improbable ascension d'un médiocre pétrolier texan devenu maître du monde libre. Puis il ouvre la boîte de Pandore du Président et révèle les liens personnels et financiers qui unissent la famille Bush à celle de Ben Laden.
Michael Moore y dénonce également les méfaits du Patriot Act et les souffrances provoquées par la guerre en Irak.

En s'adjugeant la première place du box-office américain, Fahrenheit 9/11 fait d'une pierre plusieurs coups. Outre le fait d'être crédité de la troisième meilleure moyenne par copie de l'année, le sulfureux documentaire réalise les meilleurs démarrages de l'histoire pour un documentaire, pour un film projeté sur moins de 1000 copies, et pour un film palmé à Cannes ! A cette succession de records doit s'ajouter le fait que Fahrenheit 9/11 bat en trois jours le score réalisé par le précédent documentaire du trublion Moore, Bowling for Columbine (21,6 millions), sur l'ensemble de sa carrière. Autant de statistiques qui démontrent la valeur de la performance réalisée ce week-end.

« Bush s'est lancé dans une guerre ignoble »

Ovationné pendant dix bonnes minutes par le public cannois, Michael Moore estime que « Fahrenheit 9/11 » va réveiller les Américains. Et qu'ils sauront quoi faire du président Bush.
Sorti il y a quelques jours dans les salles américaines, Fahrenheit 9/11 a déclenché une imposante polémique et… a battu, pour son premier week-end d'exploitation, tous les records de recettes pour un documentaire. Rencontre avec Michael Moore pendant le dernier festival de Cannes. Avant que le jury de Quentin Tarantino lui décerne sa Palme d'or.

“ Quelle a été votre motivation en tournant ce film ? ”

Mon souhait, c'est que le film soit distrayant, agréable, que le grand public, dans la salle, mange son pop-corn en réfléchissant, en riant, en pleurant et que les spectateurs en parlent ensuite entre eux pendant une semaine ou pendant un mois. Voilà ma motivation. J'ai voulu revenir sur le 11 septembre et cette fois, il est important de dire que c'est moi qui suis sérieux et Bush qui est le comique…

“ Quelle influence doit avoir votre film ? ”

J'espère avoir une influence sur les gens pour qu'ils continuent à être de bons citoyens. Bien sûr, j'espère que le film sortira pendant l'été dans les salles américaines et non pas au mois de janvier prochain !

“ Sur la tragédie du 11 septembre et ses suites, qu'apportez-vous de neuf dans votre film ? ”

Cette histoire a été un terrible choc pour l'Amérique ! Le film apporte beaucoup d'éléments nouveaux, des images jamais vues à la télévision, des révélations sur le passé militaire de George Bush. Et puis, on n'a jamais entendu le désespoir des soldats américains dans les journaux télévisés du soir. Or, il y a des blessés, des morts, de la souffrance. Aux Etats-Unis, les spectateurs se rendent désormais compte qu'on leur a menti. Et quand les Américains disposent de l'information, je peux vous dire qu'ils savent comment se comporter. Encore faut-il que l'information passe… Je crois que les Américains détestent qu'on leur cache quelque chose. Le film va lever le rideau sur les faits. Je pense que le peuple américain sera choqué et qu'il réagira comme il se doit.

“ Vous évoquez beaucoup le sort des soldats américains en Irak… ”

Parce que les exemples montent que Bush ne soutient pas nos soldats. Il les méprise alors qu'ils engagent leur vie pour l'Amérique. Bush est contre nos soldats. Il les a mis en place en Irak pour se remplir les poches et celles de ses bienfaiteurs. Bush s'est lancé dans une guerre ignoble et il commence à se faire prendre. La chance change de camp…

“ Vous êtes moins présent à l'image que dans vos films précédents… ”

Les documents réunis sont solides. Ils s'expriment mieux que moi. Dans le film, il y a ma voix, mon opinion, mon sens de l'humour.

“ Le thème de la peur occupe une place importante dans le film… ”

Nous sommes dans le domaine de l'hystérie collective pour amener la masse des gens à oublier les vrais problèmes. 70 % des Américains pensent qu'il y a un lien entre Al Qaida et Saddam Hussein. Je veux montrer comment on a insufflé cette peur dans la société américaine. Ensuite, on est prêt à abandonner sa liberté pour être protégé. Je voudrais que les Américains sachent cela. Il faut que nous atterrissions un jour !

“ Le film peut-il avoir une influence sur la réélection de George Bush ? ”

Avant d'être réélu, il aurait d'abord fallu qu'il soit valablement élu !

“ Craignez-vous la réaction de la Maison blanche ? ”

Moi, je n'ai peur de rien ! Dites-moi, je devrais avoir peur de quelque chose ?

My First Wild Week with "Fahrenheit 9/11"... By Michael Moore

Where do I begin? This past week has knocked me for a loop. "Fahrenheit 9/11," the #1 movie in the country, the largest grossing documentary ever. My head is spinning. Didn't we just lose our distributor 8 weeks ago? Did Karl Rove really fail to stop this? Is Bush packing?

Each day this week I was given a new piece of information from the press that covers Hollywood, and I barely had time to recover from the last tidbit before the next one smacked me upside the head:

** More people saw "Fahrenheit 9/11" in one weekend than all the people who saw "Bowling for Columbine" in 9 months.

** "Fahrenheit 9/11" broke "Rocky III’s" record for the biggest box office opening weekend ever for any film that opened in less than a thousand theaters.

** "Fahrenheit 9/11" beat the opening weekend of "Return of the Jedi."

** "Fahrenheit 9/11" instantly went to #2 on the all-time list for largest per-theater average ever for a film that opened in wide-release.

How can I ever thank all of you who went to see it? These records are mind-blowing. They have sent shock waves through Hollywood – and, more importantly, through the White House.

10. That actor who played the President was totally unconvincing

9. It oversimplified the way I stole the election

8. Too many of them fancy college-boy words

6. Didn't have one of them hilarious monkeys who smoke cigarettes and gives people the finger

But it was the reactions and reports we received from theaters around the country that really sent me over the edge. One theatre manager after another phoned in to say that the movie was getting standing ovations as the credits rolled – in places like Greensboro, NC and Oklahoma City -- and that they were having a hard time clearing the theater afterwards because people were either too stunned or they wanted to sit and talk to their neighbors about what they had just seen. In Trumbull, CT, one woman got up on her seat after the movie and shouted "Let's go have a meeting!" A man in San Francisco took his shoe off and threw it at the screen when Bush appeared at the end. Ladies’ church groups in Tulsa were going to see it, and weeping afterwards.

News editors told us that they were being "bombarded" with e-mails and calls from the White House (read: Karl Rove), trying to spin their way out of this mess by attacking it and attacking me. Bush spokesman Dan Bartlett had told the White House press corps that the movie was "outrageously false" -- even though he said he hadn't seen the movie. He later told CNN that "This is a film that doesn't require us to actually view it to know that it's filled with factual inaccuracies." At least they're consistent. They never needed to see a single weapon of mass destruction before sending our kids off to die.

For now, please know the following: Every single fact I state in "Fahrenheit 9/11" is the absolute and irrefutable truth. This movie is perhaps the most thoroughly researched and vetted documentary of our time. No fewer than a dozen people, including three teams of lawyers and the venerable one-time fact-checkers from The New Yorker went through this movie with a fine-tooth comb so that we can make this guarantee to you. Do not let anyone say this or that isn't true. If they say that, they are lying. Let them know that the OPINIONS in the film are mine, and anyone certainly has a right to disagree with them. And the questions I pose in the movie, based on these irrefutable facts, are also mine. And I have a right to ask them. And I will continue to ask them until they are answered.

Clair que j'attend ce film avec une certaine impatience, je ne suis pas fan de cinéma et me déplace dans les salles obscures 2 fois par an en moyenne, et j'irai très certainement pour ce film là. J'ai une copine qui est au Canada , elle a donc pu le voir il y a 2 semaines et m'en a dit que du bien. En tout cas là bas, il faut réserver sa place à l'avance pour aller le voir tellement ça a du succès.

Sinon, j'ai vu ce matin sur tf1.fr que Moore disait que ça ne le dérangeait pas d'être piraté, car il gagnait déjà assez d'argent, et qu'il était heureux qu'un maximum de monde puisse le voir par le biais du téléchargement...

Bref, Moore for président !!!!

Jai vu "The big one" et "BFC" quand ils sont sortis en salle, j'ai aussi lu "les etats unis stupides d'amerique" , j'yrai egalement voir celui çi

Il y a aussi "Supermontbeliardsize me" qui est en salle, l'histoire de petits batards qui mangent cancoillote et morteau 3 fois par jour pendant 1mois.

Michael Moore veut bien qu'on le pirate

Le cinéaste Michael Moore a déclaré qu'il n'était pas gêné que son dernier film Fahrenheit 9/11 soit piraté, tant que ce n'était pas dans un but commercial. "Je ne suis pas d'accord avec les lois sur le copyright. Je gagne déjà assez bien ma vie, et j'ai fait ce film parce que je veux que le monde change. Plus nombreux seront ceux qui le voient, mieux c'est. Je suis donc heureux de le voir téléchargé".

Fahrenheit 9/11 est évidemment disponible sur les réseaux de téléchargements peer-to-peer comme eMule/eDonkey ou sur Bittorrent...

Sur la mule, la version pesant 701.75 Mo est un fake... apparemment c'est la version de 648.38 qu'il faut télécharger.... j'ai lancé ça y'a quelques minutes mais à mon avis j'en ai pour plusieurs jours de téléchargement... et dans tous les cas j'ira voir le film au ciné et surtout, j'acheterais le DVD à sa sortie...

Ce genre de film et de personnage permet de rappeler que tous les américains ne sont pas d'accord avec leur président (élu ric rac ) et qu'il ne faut pas tous les mettre dans le même sac.

Bon ben ce film, ou documentaire, est tout bonnement génial....Allez le voir dès que vous pouvez. Je ne dirai rien de plus sur ce film pour ne pas gacher le plaisir des autres spectateurs.

Et à peine un peu trop larmoyant par moment, juste à peine...
