En tout cas, pour les supporters de l'Austria (qui avait malmené l'OM en tour préliminaire de Ligue des Champions la saison passée), nous avons fait une super affaire.
Ils semblent avoir une très haute opinion de notre nouvelle recrue.
Le fait qu'il vienne d'Autriche ne doit pas constituer un trompe l'oeil.
Zamorano ou Anderson, par exemple, venaient bien de Suisse.
Je reste convaincu qu'il s'agit d'une bonne recrue, très bonne peut-être même.

Souleyman seems not as fast as Afolabi as you spoke about him, but he is a very powerful guy.

He dealt with koller, the two meters Dortmund tower a year ago, and lead us to a beautiful 2-2 away / 4-0 here.

The combination Afolabi/Diawara in the center of the defence could then be not as bad, I think! Two powerful, athletic players in the CD could be a fine thing. The only thing, which is not perfect by Afolabi are his technical skills. But if he makes sometimes mistakes, he nearly everytime corrects this mistakes himselfes!


Our right defender by austria_wien is also not the fastest. Rabiu very often corrected also his mistakes. He was our "tower in the defence" (also a good header).

Whats about the technical skills of Diawara?

Who is Candeloro? The player on the pictore is Thomas Pichlmann from Superfund (an austrian team)!

Diawara was somehow a "raw power" player when he arrived, he is still not the most technical defender, but he has corrected most of his weakness.



He used to be associated with a player with cunning abilities such as FLACHEZ a 30 years old libero last year and Monsoreau a splendide 23 years young player not far from national selection and going toward Lyon this year.

Before playing for Sochaux DIAWARA used to be rough as a player collecting 12 yellow cards and three red  a season

Diawara could be the "brother" of Afolabi (from style of playin')!  There's just one big difference: Afolabi is never ever an unfair player. In the last season he collected just 2 yellow cards (!!!) as a center defender.

He has an enormous physical strengthens. Some technical mankos (which became better and better with every season he played for us) he can easily cover with his speed and athletic. In the defence, I think he has absolutely european strengthens. But he's not a player which starts often an offense action (although he scored one goal in the last season)! But he's able to play the ball quick to the midfielders! He tries to control the game (most forwards have already tears in the eyes *g*) and keep it fast!

I am sorry, that I don´t write "en francais", mais il me manque d`exercise.

I have to congratulate you on signing Rabiu Afolabi. In my opinion he was the best player in our league, who could - in my opinion - easily play for the best clubs in europe. He is fast, he rarely loses any "one on one" and he is calm enough to react extremely clever in dangerous situations. He rarely kicks the ball out of bounce, he always tries to find a better positioned player. He signed a new contract with our club just a month ago, which I found so unbelievable, because he is certainly that kind of player who belongs into a big league and a big club.

Have fun with him, I will desperately miss him. He was the best defender I ever saw in the austrian league. It´s a shame he left and I really hope that we emptied your budget with this deal

Before I forget it:

We played against Marseille and Drogba in 2003: Afolabi fooled the whole Marseille offense. Drogba was non existent.

We played until the quarterfinals of the UEFA-Cup this year: Gilardino, Savio and all the other strikers of some really good teams didn´t have a chance of winning a one on one against him. Honestly: I can´t remember if he ever lost a one on one duel

J'ai lu cette info sur le net voila quelques heures, et je trouve que c'est une trés bonne nouvelle pour le FCSM.
La défense centrale, ça va vraiment être du costaud quand Diawara aura retrouver tout ses moyens.
Le soucis de la CAN ça craint un peu mais bon, je le préfere dans notre équipe !

A moins que je ne sois définitivement imperméable au sens de l'humour autrichien.

D'après mes infos, Afolabi est, certes athlétique et solide, mais ses qualités techniques sont inférieures à celles de Diawara, si vous voyez ce que je veux dire...

Le parfait remplaçant de Monsoreau, à n'en pas douter.

Je pense qu'il parlait des duels où AFOLABI défend et pas ceux où il attaque, ce qui explique que ses échecs soient peu nombreux.

Hélas il reconnait par ailleurs qu'AfOLABI ne brille pas par son apport offensif; ce qui qui avec Potillon/Sigurdson et Daf nous fera la défense la moins capable d'assister un milieu souvent débordé de tout le championnat.

La qualité technique est essentielle même si l'on évoque que la partie "récupération du ballon" du métier de défenseur central.

Ne serait-ce qu'en raison de la nécessité de relancer après avoir "ratisser".

Selon moi, nous ne pouvons nous passer du recrutement d'un joueur plus habile dans ce registre.

A défaut, nous "pleurerons" toute la saison sur le départ de Monsoreau.

ptdr sur toutes les photos il nous montre comment il lève bien sa jambe. il a l'air agressif moi il me fait peur avec ses grimaces  e ntout cas on a 2 beaux bébés en defence centrale va y'avoir des turbulences pour les attaquants adverses devant la surface ... faudra eviter dedans car un afolabie contre un vahirua le pauvre plane jusqu'en touche et revient en pagayant suite au penaltie accordé par monsieur ledentu 

sinon tout le monde a l'air d'accord sur le prix coté autrichien environ 2 millions avec une un contrat de 4 ans c'est sur c'est un rapport qualité prix tres interessant.

sinon question un peu neuneu mais est ce quil vient mettre sa tete sur les coups de pieds arretés ou reste t'il en defense .... bah c'est important quand meme ..... si ca l'est !!!!!

Ben vu qu'il n'a marqué qu'un but dans un championnat où les gardiens sont volontiers Konciliants, ça ne doit pas être sa qualité première.

Quant à Topsecret mon ami, tu prêches un converti si dès hier et seul à cette heure indue, au risque d'être pris à partie persionnellement par San Antonio, je me permettais de douter de la complémentarité d'Afolabi avec Diawara, ce n'était pas sans fondement.

Mon opinion reste la même Afolabi est appelé à remplacer Diawara.  Maintenant au mercato d'hiver ou l'année prochaine, et nous n'aurons pas un défenseur capable de relancer comme Hilton.

Deux autres précisions,  2 M € pour un défenseur qui va manquer 20 % de l'année, c'est énorme c'est quand même plus que Pitau qui remplaçait notre maître à jouer.


Et quant à la qualité de relance de Monsoreau, c'est un domaine où Sly est largemetn perfectible selon moi.

Mais comparé aux aptitudes de Diawara (qui a, tout de même un peu progessé en la matière) et  de Afolabi en la matière, c'est un orfèvre.

Je me permettais juste de te faire remarquer que c'est un peu tôt pour mettre en doute la complémentarité entre deux joueurs qui n'ont jamais joué ensemble.

Après, tu auras peut-être raison. Mais au moins, attendons de les voir évoluer ensemble. J'ai pris aussi l'exemple de l'arrivée de Diawara où tu n'avais pas été tendre (à tort) avec lui.

Sinon c'est vrai que le problème "CAN" est réelle. Mais il ne compte que 6 sélections. Et nos dirigeants ont forcément pensé au problème !
